Our primary research ranges from formative to evaluative, using approaches such as diary studies, in-depth interviews, and quantitative surveys. For this position, we are looking for individuals with a Qualitative background or mixed-methods background (experts in both qualitative and quantitative methods) and who bring an understanding of how to integrate diverse sources of insights. The right candidates will be excellent communicators, knowledgeable about UI design, passionate about optimizing product experiences in the social media space, comfortable in a flat, fast moving organization, excited to collaborate, and focused on impacting the design of Instagram.
Work closely with product teams to identify research topics.
Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes.
Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs.
Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative methods, including in-depth interviews, ethnographies, and focus groups.
Interpret and analyze research results through the lens of UX and social science.
Collaborate closely with quantitative researchers.
Work cross-functionally with design, product management, content strategy, engineering and marketing.
Partner with engineers, analysts, and other technical roles to create and share research.
Bachelor in Economics and Social Studies, Human Computer Interaction, Information Science, Psychology, or Social Science
3+ years of experience in applied product research
Experience with survey design and response effects
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Master in Business Marketing, Digital Marketing, Economics and Social Studies, Human Computer Interaction, Political Sciences, Psychology, or Social Science
5+ years of experience in applied product research
